During the 110th Anniversary of Shandong University, SDU President Xu Xianming met with overseas university presidents and other eminent persons who were present at the anniversary celebrations. They discussed future cooperation and exchange initiatives. Each delegation was received by the Vice-President of SDU Fan Liming.

The themes for the anniversary celebration put "culture and academia" into the spotlight. During the 110th Anniversary, nearly 30 Presidents and Vice-Presidents from overseas universities and more than 500 overseas guests attended a variety of events and projects including "University Presidents' Forum-- The New Function of University: Catalyst of Culture Fusion", "China, Japan, South Korea Engineering Degree Programs Seminar", "Shandong University and Harvard University Forum on 'Path of China and Image of China'" and the Celebration of 110th Anniversary of SDU.
Many sister universities including Durham University, The John King Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard, Kumamoto University, Yamaguchi University, Korea University, Ajou University, Yeungnam University, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Feng Chia University, and many others sent representatives to attend this series of activities.
Seizing this opportunity, SDU held a series of communication activities among the heads of SDU, its schools and departments and students. Guests who were present at the anniversary celebrations were invited by the schools/ departments concerned to exchange ideas on international cooperation, to visit around or to attend academic reports and communicate with students.
