In order to foster a deep understanding of China and the Chinese culture among young elites around the world, enable the prosperous growth of China studies, promote the sustainable development of Confucius Institutes, and enhance the friendly relationship between China and the people of other countries, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (the Headquarters) has set up the “Confucius China Study Plan”.
This Plan consists of six sub-programs—“Understanding China” Visiting Scholar Sub-program, Young Leaders Sub-program, Sino-foreign Joint Ph. D. Sub-program, PH. D. in China Sub-program, International Conference Sub-program, Publishing Sub-program. The majority of financial support is provided through support of specific research and other projects on designated academic areas of Humanities and Social Science. At present, the scholarship application for Sino-foreign Joint Ph. D. Sub-program and Ph. D. in China Sub-program is in progress.
Applicants shall log on http://ccsp.chinese.cn, register personal account, inquiry about receiving institutions and research topics, fill in the application information and upload relevant evidence documents online, and submit and print the Application Form for the program. Please submit your applications with your signature on it and other application materials (see the program plan for details) to the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Chinese colleges or universities (the application materials should include the Chinese versions.) The Headquarters will organize the “Confucius China Study Plan” Expert Committee to conduct the appraisal and interview.

Shandong University is one of the first 14 domestic colleges and universities to undertake the Confucius China Study Plan and at present there are 27 professors at university for recruiting overseas students on 28 topics.
