SDU's Weihai Observatory Becomes 2021-25 National Science Popularization Base

Weihai Observatory (WHO) of Shandong University was recently listed in the China Association for Science and Technology's first batch of national science popularization bases for the years 2021-25.

The WHO was built in 2007 and has since been used for scientific research and instruction, as well as popularizatioin activities for astronomical science in Weihai, nearby cities, Shandong province, and across the country.

The WHO has also been exploring online science popularization activities such as virtual reality tours, live observations, and online science lectures.

In addition to the national science popularization base, the WHO has been recognized with various titles, such as the Shandong provincial science popularization base, a demonstration base of Shandong provincial science popularization project, and a science popularization base of Weihai.

In addition, SDU's School of Space Science and Physics relies on the WHO to carry out a variety of science popularization activities in order to boost the transformation of sci-tech achievements, science popularization, inspire students' sci-tech motivation, and promote the development of multidisciplinary integration.
