Recently, Ph.D.Student ZhaoShiping from the Institute of Frontier and Interdisciplinary Science and Key Laboratory of Particle Physics and Particle Irradiation (MOE), Shandong University, Prof. FengCunfeng’s group, has been rewarded “Jury Prize” at the closing ceremony of the 37th International Cosmic Ray Conference (ICRC) for hiscontribution “Measurement of theDiffuseGamma-rayEmission from GalacticPlane with LHAASO-KM2A”.
ICRCis organized by the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP). This year,at Berlin, 1380 contributions from the worldcame together. And“Jury Prize”is the most popular one.
The Galactic Diffuse Gamma-ray Emission (GDE) provides uswithan effective way to measure the distribution of Galactic Cosmic Rays (CRs) directly. Itwill givemore crucial information on the production and propagation of CRs andlead us to the answer of origin and acceleration of CRs.Afteranalyzing half of the observations from Lhaaso-KM2A andtheextraction ofgamma-ray source contamination, a preliminary spectral energy distribution (SED) of GDE was obtained, which is the most important step in revealing the CRs mystery.
Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO),designed and constructed by scientists from China, willfinish at the end of this year. During the construction, The Key Laboratory of Particle Physics and Particle Irradiation MOE havemade remarkable contribution in developing the software framework, testing the performance of detectors, and developing the photosensitive probe system, etal. Recently, the prior work has shifted to the physical analysis of the data collected by LHAASO. A great contribution has already been made among those important results published by LHAASO.Authors from Shandong University have made 8 talks and 7 postersduringtheconference, whosenumber ranked first among all universities of the LHAASO collaboration.
