Recently, Prof. Guo Weihua from the School of Life Sciences of Shandong University was elected as a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RAEN). Oleg L. Kuznetsov, the president of RAEN, and Lida V. Ivanitskoya, the Secretary General of RAEN, signed the academician certificate and sent a congratulatory letter on the election of Professor Guo as a foreign academician. Bolayev Arasha, the Deputy President of RAEN, also sent a congratulatory video.

The Russian Academy of Natural Sciences is the largest Russian Academy of Sciences recognized by the United Nations. The Russian Academy of Natural Sciences has 24 faculties with 18 Nobel Prize winners, more than 270 academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and more than 30 academicians of the Russian National Academy of Medical Sciences. Foreign academicians of it include outstanding scientists from 48 countries around the world.

Prof. Guo Weihua is a famous scientist in biology and ecology. After academician recommendation, formal review, material review, department election, presidium review, and other procedures, Prof. Guo Weihua was elected as a foreign academician of the Section of Scientific Problems of Agro-Industrial Complex of RAEN.

Prof. Guo Weihua works for the education and research of ecology. She is the leader of the national first-class major in ecology, the national first-class online course, and the national first-class virtual simulation courses. She has completed more than 20 national and provincial research projects and made a series of innovative achievements in plant ecological divergence and adaptive evolution, biodiversity conservation and community assembly in coastal wetlands, development and utilization of plant resources, and ecosystem protection and restoration. She has published more than 100 SCI articles. She has been selected as New Century Excellent Talents (2007) and Outstanding Teacher in Qingdao (2022).

She also serves as Committee Member for Steering Committee for Teaching Life Sciences Majors, Ministry of Education, China; Associate Director for Steering Committee for Majors and Courses of Biological Science, Biotechnology, and Biological Engineering of Shandong Province, China; Committee Member for Teaching Steering Committee of Shandong University; Standing Director, Ecological Society of China; Vice Chair for Botanical Society of Shandong, China; Vice Chair for Forestry Society of Shandong, China; Standing Committee Member for Qingdao Association for Science and Technology.
