At the 75th International Exhibition for Inventions (IENA) in Nuremberg, Germany, held at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center with more than 500 invention projects from about 30 countries and regions, Shandong University’s innovative invention "Cutting-edge Intelligent Shield Series Carrying Equipment" won the Gold Prize.

In order to overcome the obstacles during shield construction, combined with Jinan Railway Transportation Group, Shandong University conducted disruptive research around the shield intelligent digging. The shield machine equipped with "fiery eyes and golden eyes", "listening to the wave of intelligent ears", "super clever nose", "steel teeth nerves", "pulse spiritual hand" and "artificial intelligence brain" and other systems. Throughdynamic risk evaluation, it can assist in supporting shield tunneling active decision-making, risk control and disaster mitigation, providing a new solution for urban infrastructure construction.

The "Wisdom One" shield machine mounted with powerful senses and intelligent brain has been successfully used in Jinan Metro Line 6 Xu-Feng interval, safety escort 218 days, successfully dug 490 rings, during which there was not a single disaster. Intelligent tunneling equipment has also been synchronously promoted to the Guiyang Metro, Xuzhou Metro and other projects, which plays an important role in comprehensively guaranteeing the shield safe construction and fast digging. In the next step, the academy will continue to promote international cooperation and exchange and make greater contributions in promoting the development of science and technology, exploring the world's engineering academic frontiers, and serving the construction of major national projects.
