On July 11, the latest ESI data by July 2019 was released by Clarivate Analytics. ESI (Essential Science Indicators) is one of the most important indicators used to evaluate the international academic level and the influence of universities and academic institutions worldwide. In the latest ranking, according to data collected from January 1, 2009 to April 30, 2019, Shandong University ranks 263th globally, rising five places from the ranking in May 2019, and ranks 11th among Chinese mainland universities.
According to the data, Shandong University had published a total of 45525 papers indexed by ESI during the statistics period. The papers were cited 526001 times in all, and every paper was cited 11.55 times on average, including 476 highly cited papers . According to the ranking, the top three universities in China mainland are University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University and Tsinghua University.
