A new intelligent urban traffic management system——JT Brain——was launched in Jinan, East China's Shandong province on Dec. 26.

JT Brain, on the strength of advanced techniques including big data analytics, transport management and AI, aims to aggregate all traffic-related data from the municipal public security bureau, the traffic bureau and the urban administration enforcement bureau to build a smart and sharing management and service platform.

Investment for the first phase construction of the project reached 200 million yuan ($29 million). It started design work this May and has finished overall structure framework construction. Now on a beta test run in Jinan's central area, Quancheng Square area, JT Brain will be officially put into use in 2019 with its 500 functions covering fields such as intelligent parking guidance and intelligent signal light management.

Led by the municipal traffic police department, designed by Shandong University, and with Didi Chuxing ("DiDi"), one of the most-used online taxi-hailing and car-service companies, as its main producer, JT Brain project was in a strong position to welcome other leading participators such as Cennavi H-Tech, Inspur Group, Hisense, and Yisa.

The Jinan municipal traffic bureau, Shandong University, and Didi signed a trilateral cooperation agreement on the JT Brain project and future urban transportation developments at the ceremony.

A forum focused on "Intelligent+" development of urban traffic management was held on the same day. It shows Jinan's innovative achievements in its urban traffic management, supervision of law enforcement and service patterns, which together create safe and free-flowing traffic.

In addition, the Joint Research Center of Intelligent Traffic Big Data established by the municipal traffic police department and Shandong University was unveiled at the forum.
