Recently, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation has published a list of 126 winners of Sloan Research Fellowships of 2018, and Chang Cuizu, graduating from the School of Information Science and Engineering of SDU in 2007, is on the list.
Chang was admitted to SDU as an undergraduate in 2003 and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 2007. Later he went to Department of Physics of Tsinghua University for further study, taught by Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xue Qikun, who was also SDU alumnus. In 2013, Chang received his Ph.D. in physics from Tsinghua University. Form 2013 to 2017, Chang engaged in postdoctoral research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and he is an assistant professor from the School of Physics of the Pennsylvania State University now. Chang received International Union of Pure and Applied Physics Young Scientist Prize in the Structure and Dynamics of Condensed Matter in 2016, and Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundation Award in 2013. His research interests include low dimensional topological insulator and quantum Anomalous Hall Effect, boundary superconductivity, heterojunction, the growth of molecular beam epitaxy of superlattice, ect.
Awarded once a year by Alfred P. Sloan Foundation since 1955, Sloan Research Fellowships aim at encouraging and rewarding young scholars who are at their early stage of career and promising to become pioneers in their fields. Up to February 2017, there have been 42 winners of Sloan Research Fellowships who later received the Nobel Prize and 16 winners winning the International Medals for Outstanding Discoveries in Mathematics.
