The Founding Congress of Sino-Russian Comprehensive Universities Alliance as well as Sino-Russian University President Forum were held in Shenzhen as the serial supporting activities for Sino-Russian cultural exchange mechanism recently. Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets attended the forum and delivered a speech. SDU becomes the founder member of Sino-Russian Comprehensive Universities Alliance. The Vice President of SDU, Chen Zijiang, was invited to attend the congress on behalf of Alliance's founder member.
Lin Jianhua, President of Peking University, chaired the Founding Congress, in which President of Moscow State University, Victor Antonovich Sadovnichii, delivered a speech. Joint Declaration of Founding Sino-Russian Comprehensive Universities Alliance and Constitution of Sino-Russian Comprehensive Universities Alliancewere adopted in the congress.
In order to encourage the comprehensive universities in Russia and China to play a more important role in the Belt and Road Initiative and Russia's Eurasian Economic Union, PKU signed the Joint Declaration of Founding Sino-Russian Comprehensive Universities Alliance with Moscow State University in 2016, proposing to set up the Sino-Russian Comprehensive Universities Alliance. Forty Chinese colleges and universities, such as PKU, THU, SDU, etc., and twenty Russian colleges and universities, such as Moscow State University, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Siberia Federal University, etc. have joined the Alliance so far. The colleges and universities will jointly exchange views on modern educational methods, scientific researches, cultural education and social activities and other fields, conducting further systematic cooperation under Sino-Russian strategic guidance and further substantial exchanges among colleges and universities in China and Russia.
