On August 28, Professor Ian Young, President of Australian National University (ANU) and his delegation visited SDU. Xu Xianming, President of SDU, met with them. Han Shenghao, Vice President of SDU, also attended related activities.

President Xu expressed his warm welcome to the delegation. Xu made a brief introduction about the history, leading subjects, internationalization strategy, and the new Qingdao Campus of SDU.
He also reviewed the history cooperation between the two universities in engineering fields about training undergraduates and expressed his wish that both sides could cooperate in more fields in the future and establish a joint doctoral school in SDU.
President Young introduced ANU and praised the good cooperation between the two universities in training undergraduates. He also supported both sides training doctoral students together.
During the visit, the delegation also visited the State Key Lab of Crystal Materials of SDU and SDU Museum. Related officials from Australia Education Management Group, Department of International Affairs of SDU and Department of International Affairs of SDU (Weihai) also attended the meeting.
The Australian National University was established in 1946. It is a celebrated place of intensive research, education and policy engagement.There are 7 major schools and over 18,000 students at the school, which included 10,200 undergraduates, 8,200 postgraduates and over 4,000 international students.
