There are two major differences in the composition of incoming international students as compared to former years. First, the Dongseo University of South Korea has been cooperating with SDU for 10 years as an interschool exchange project partner. The tenth group of undergraduates of Dongseo University, 55 in total, have successfully registered in SDU, and they will complete advanced Chinese courses and some specialized courses this year in SDU.
Second, the total new enrollments of undergraduates, postgraduates and Ph.D. students reached a record high, are up 15% from last year. With the increase of specialized courses taught in English in medicine, economics and international relations, more and more overseas students come to SDU for further study. In the days to come, SDU will continue speed up the process of improving the quality of the faculty, the training of students and academic research, in the hopes of building it into a world-class university preliminarily by 2020, thus increasing international influence and competitiveness.

This registration of overseas students was completed by the joint effort of the Department of International Affairs and International Education College, which offered the students convenient , one-stop service. However, since the enrollment is up from last year and the registration procedures are more complex, the Department of International Affairs specially chose 7 foreign secretaries and 10 student volunteers from the Students' International Communication Association (SICA) to assist the regular staff from the International Education College.
During the enrollment process, the International Education College prepared lessons, the placement test and text books for these new overseas students with meticulous care. Property management office worked hard to solve the accommodation problem by coordinating with other relevant departments, offering students a comfortable living environment. Now, the registration work is successfully done. Language students and degree students will have their lessons according to the academic calendar smoothly and happily.
