Park Jin, permanent representative of the South Korean Institute for the Future of Asia, and honorary professor of SDU, recently visited Shandong University, and delivered a keynote speech. Hwang Seunghyun, Consul-General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Qingdao, accompanied Mr. Park Jin on his visit. Xu Xianming, President of SDU, met with the visiting group.

President Xu extended a warm welcome to Park Jin and Hwang Seunghyun, and gave a brief introduction of SDU and the construction of Qingdao campus. He said that in the fields of South Korean and Asian-Pacific research, SDU has a long history of outstanding work.
He also expressed his hope that Mr. Park will help promote cooperation between SDU Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies and the South Korean Institute for the Future of Asia, and that Mr. Park will give full support to exchange between SDU and South Korea, especially in the areas such as academic dialogue, scientific research cooperation and student training with South Korean universities.
Mr. Park expressed that Shandong Province has a close cooperative relation with South Korea, and SDU plays an important role in the educational exchange between South Korea and China. Park Jin, an honorary professor of SDU, felt honored to revisit SDU and shared his thoughts on economic and political relations in the northeast Asia with teachers and students here. He wishes to actively promote the communication between SDU and South Korean universities, especially the cooperation in the area of Asia-Pacific studies.
Lou Hongxiang, Vice President of SDU, Zou Nan, Director of SDU’s Department of International Affairs, Li Changying, Dean of SDU’s School of Economics, Ge Quan, Dean of SDU’s School of Political Science and Public Administration, and Yang Luhui, SDU Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, also attended the meeting.

During their visit, Park Jin gave a speech to the students. He also answered questions from the students present. The speech was hosted by Lou Hongxiang. Present at the speech were the teachers and students from School of Economics, School of Political Science and Public Administration, School of Foreign Languages and Literature, and the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies.
