The delegation of Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies and Institute for Cultural Heritage of Shandong University headed by Vice President Fan Liming recently paid a visit to Japanese Universities. During their stay, the delegation visited Kyushu University, Kansai University, University of Tokyo, Daito Bunka University, Kanagawa University and others.
During the visit to Kyushu University, Kyushu University's Executive Vice President Yukio Fujiki and Vice President Yoshiaki Kawamoto, met with the delegation members. The two sides agreed on building a comprehensive and cooperative partnership between Graduate School of Humanities, Faculty of Humanities from Kyushu University and Schools of Humanities, Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies and Institute of Cultural Heritage from Shandong University, to launch projects for teacher and student exchange, as well as academic and scientific cooperation.
During the visit to Kansai University, the delegation members met with Kusumi Harushige, President of Kansai University. There, the delegation mainly investigated the project for the Cultural Interaction Studies, headed by Kansai University. After the negotiation, the two sides agreed to develop cooperation in the fields of Confucian Studies, Archaeology, Museum Exchange and some other aspects.
During the visit to the University of Tokyo, the delegation had a discussion with Kojima Tsuyoshi, Professor of Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology. The two sides decided to expand the range of exchange and cooperation in the humanities, especially on Confucian studies, archaeology and folklore studies. Schools of Humanities, the Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies and the Institute of Cultural Heritage from Shandong University will sign cooperation agreements with the Faculty of Letters and the Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology at University of Tokyo in the near future.
During the visit to Daito Bunka University, Masao Ota, President of Daito Bunka University, met with the delegation. The two sides expressed their desire to strengthen the current collaboration in the humanities on the basis of exerting their respective strengths, to launch cooperation programs such as hosting academic and scientific conferences, and through other avenues as well.
The delegation also visited Kanagawa University, and met with Michio Nakajima, President of Kanagawa University. The two sides decided to develop close cooperation in the near future, such as exchanging teachers, collaborative research, short-term and long-term student exchange, and cooperate more in the fields of folklore studies and cultural heritage studies.
During the visit in Japan, the delegation also met with core members of Shandong University's Alumni Association in Japan. SDU Vice President Fan had a warm conversation with the alumni there. She introduced the recent situations, international strategies, and areas for improvement of Shandong University.
She expressed her hope that the alumni could enhance communication and resource sharing, strengthen their relationship with their alma mater and pay attention her developments, and finally to make more contributions to SDU.
Fang Hui, Dean of the Institute of Cultural Heritage, and Yan Binggang, Vice Dean of the Advanced Institute for Confucian Studies, accompanied the delegation.
