Recently, Prof. Hao Jingcheng ’s group from Shandong University has made impressive progress in his remarkable field of surfactants in solution.
The research of surfactants in solution is an important area of colloid and Interface sciences. It is the basis and one of the foreland fields of physical chemistry. In recent years, Prof. Hao’s group and his coworkers carried out a systematic study on the self-assembly, the phase behavior, the aggregates in solution, and the function of surfactants in solution and at interface. i) An onion-phase in salt-free zero charged catanionic surfactant solutions were observed firstly. Models of unilamellar and multilamellar vesicles which presented novel rheological properties of these vesicle samples were simulated (J. Phys. Chem. B 2011, 115, 9070-9076;Soft Matter 2008, 4, 1639-1644;Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2005, 44, 4018-4021). ii) Honeycomb-patterned films with tuning pore size and regularity of ordered 2- or 3-dimensional hexagonal arrays were simply prepared at air/water interface. The potential application of ordered porous films in hydrophobic materials and biochemistry was explored (Chem. Eur. J. 2011, 17(2), 655-660 and 2011, 17(27), 7484-7684; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2007, 46, 3342-3345). These results were caught the attention of the scientists in the field of Colloid and Interface Sciences and were introduced into the International Review Journals as well as Chemical Reviews (2010,110,4978-5022), Accounts of Chemical Research (2012,DOI: 10.1021/ar200124g), and Chemical Society Review (2010,39,769-782;2011,40,5457-54710, etc.
