The results of the 9th "Intel Cup" Parallel Application Challenge -- PAC 2021 was unveiled at the 17th National Annual Conference on High Performance Computing held in Zhuhai, Guangdong province from Oct 21 to 23.
Two teams from Shandong University (SDU) won the gold and bronze medals. Other teams in the finals came from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Beihang University, Sun Yat-sen University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University etc.
The final competition of this year's PAC optimization group was themed on optimizing spatial positioning of sequencing data. Two master students and two undergraduate students from SDU bagged the gold medal with an absolute advantage.
This is the third time that SDU has triumphed in the competition, making it the only team to win gold for three consecutive editions since PAC's inception in 2013.
Guided by High Performance Computing and jointly hosted by Intel China and Paratera, the PAC has become one of the most high-profile Challenges in high-performance computing in China. The competition helps boost domestic HPC application, train top technical talents in universities, and encourage the deep integration of talents and application scenarios.
