Shandong University (SDU) has been approved to pilot the construction of a sports characteristic base, according to a list of the first national experimental bases for smart social governance released on Sept 29.
The list was jointly released by eight government departments, including the Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, and General Administration of Sports of China.
As the only sports-featured base led bya higher education institution, it is initiated by the School of Physical Education of SDU, and co-organized by the School of Software of SDU and the Joint SDU-NTU Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research.
This base relies on SDU's long-term research, including the theory and practice ofconscioushealth and smart sports, as well as the core technology of artificial intelligence. SDU will utilize its experience in the cultivation of innovative talents and the construction of think tanks, to provide theoretical and technical support for this experimental base.
The sports characteristic base will predict the potential problems that may arise in community sports health governance in the "smart tech" age. It will develop an information service platform and big data computing engine, build evaluation systems, as well as establish data management standards and sharing mechanisms, to provide communities residents' with information technology support for sports’ health detection and management, and a decision-making basis to formulate healthy community sports management policies.
Since the application for experimental bases began in May, 10 integrated bases and 82 characteristicbases have been determined, spanning seven fields like city management, education, seniorservices, and sports.
