The Shandong University – Sheffield University Microbiology Joint Symposium was held online on Dec 7, attracting more than 50 researchers and graduate students from the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology and Sheffield University.
The symposium laid the foundation for SDU and Sheffield University to carry out scientific research cooperation in fields like microbial technology, pathogenic microorganisms, bioengineering, and synthetic biology, as well as to adopt SDU-Sheffield master degree training program in microbiology.
Zhang Youming, director of the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, and Professor Simon Foster from Sheffield University gave brief introductions of faculty settings, the scale of teachers and students, their respective characteristics in microbiology-related research fields, and fundamental facilities construction.
In addition, Professor Li Shengying from the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology shared an academic report on "Microbial Cytochrome P450 Enzymes" while Professor Robert Fagan delivered another report on "Structure and Function of a Bacterial Coat Armor". Another 18 scholars also shared their researches.
