The 1st International Academic Seminar on Chinese Language Education Research was held online on Dec 18 and 19.
The seminar was hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) of the Ministry of Education and organized by Shandong University (SDU) and otheruniversities.
Song Yongbo, deputy Party secretary of CLEC,put forward the focus of the next stage of international Chinese education from three aspects-world structure, industry characteristics, and development trends.
Han Shenghao, vice-president of SDU, said that SDU will promote the integration of teaching research and scientific research, and meet international demand for Chinese teaching staffs.
In the report session of the seminar, attendees gave presentations on their researches on Chinese language teaching.
In the group discussion session, 37 international Chinese teaching research directors gave academic reports on four topics - "national and regional studies on international Chinese language education", 'studies on teachers, textbooks, and teaching methods", "innovative studies on international Chinese language education and communication systems", and "studies on the reform and practice of international Chinese language education".
This year's seminar included a special session for 11 domestic and foreign editors and evaluation experts to discuss the current situation, trends, and methods of international Chinese language education, the establishment of the "international Chinese language education column", and journal topic selections.
