Shandong University (SDU) and the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in South Africa held the first international cooperation and exchange seminar on big data and intelligent transportation system online on Jan 10.
The seminar aimed to boost long-term cooperation between the two universities in scientific research, talent cultivation, and cultural communication. It is expected to become an annual seminar between two universities.
Zhu Wenxing, deputy dean of the School of Control Science and Engineering, Zhang Mengmeng, dean of the School of Transportation and Logistics Engineering, and Ma Xiaolong, vice-president of Hisense Trans Tech Co. Limited gave reports on the current situation and future development trends of big data traffic and intelligent transportation systems.
Sun Yanxia, deputy dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment of UJ introduced the university's talent cultivation, disciplines, academic research, international cooperation and communication, and its local characteristics. Sun also extended cooperation intentions with Chinese universities in various fields.
SDU and UJ signed a memorandum of understanding and an agreement in 2019, which established a dual doctoral degree program between the universities. The two universities have reached consensuses on scientific research projects, high-end talent cultivation and cultural exchanges.
The seminar was a bonding experience for the two sides in big data technology, artificial intelligence, control theory and engineering, as well as intelligent transportation systems.
