Shandong University (SDU) held an academic forum for outstanding young scientists at its Central Campus on Jan 11, which was a part of the SDU Technology Innovation Conference.

The forum aimed to encourage young talent in science and technology fields to make more valuable, original and leading achievements in order to help SDU become a world-class university with first-class disciplines.

Yi Fan, vice-president of SDU, praised the university's achievements in talent cultivation and sci-tech research last year.

Shi Yigong, president of Westlake University, shared his own experience of growing up and teaching. He addressed that young scientists should cultivate their critical thinking abilities and be willing to spend time exploring new fields.

Li Shengying, professor at the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, Ling Zongcheng, professor at the School of Space Science and Physics, Yu Dongxiao, professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology, and Zhan Peng, professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences gave presentations at the sharing session of scientific and technological talents at the forum.

The forum was also broadcast online and received thousands of views.
