Six projects from Shandong University (SDU) were included in the Chinese Academic Foreign Translation Program of the National Social Science Foundation of China (NSSFC) list for the year 2021, which was recently issued by the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences.
SDU was ranked fourth in terms of number of projects among universities in China. The six approved projects were three English projects and one Korean project from the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, one English project from the School of Translation Studies, and one English project from the School of Mathematics and Statistics.
As one of the major categories of the NSSFC, the Chinese Academic Foreign Translation Program mainly supports academic works that represent Chinese academic standards, embody the essence of Chinese culture and reflect the frontier of Chinese academia, which are published in foreign authoritative publishing institutions in foreign languages.
The program intends to give full play to the guiding role of the NSSFC and deepen academic interactions and dialogues between China and other nations in order to increase Chinese academics' international impact.
This year, 237 projects were approved, including eight from Peking University, eight from Nanjing University, seven from Shanghai International Studies University, and six from SDU, Tongji University, and China University of Political Science and Law respectively.
