On Feb 15, Shandong University (SDU) President Fan Liming and her delegation paid a visit to the Shandong Marine Group to foster deep university-industry cooperation.

Fan and her delegation gained knowledge of the group's industrial layout, business modules, significant initiatives, and long-term development strategy. Fan also introduced SDU's progress in recent years.

SDU and the group have a sound platform for cooperation, and both sides should take advantage of their respective advantages to collaborate, such as applying for research and development projects together to help the province's marine sector expand, according to Fan.

Bao Jianying, chairman of Shandong Marine Group, praised SDU's achievements in education, discipline construction, and academic research in recent years. Bao also expressed his expectation for both sides to carry out university-enterprise cooperation to boost marine development.

In recent years, SDU has collaborated with Shandong Marine Group on a number of projects that have had positive outcomes.

Professor Ma Xin of the School of Control Science and Engineering, for instance, led a team that was authorized for a provincial-level scientific and technology creative engineering project in 2021.

Professor Ma's team, a team led by professor Liu Ju from the School of Information Science and Engineering, and Shandong Marine Group were authorized to work on key R&D projects in Shandong province in 2021, including a project on deep and distant marine facilities and a project on fishery sci-tech demonstration.
