Sixteen bachelor programs of Shandong University (SDU) were selected for national first-class bachelor programs construction, according to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Education.

The selected first-class bachelor programs include international politics, social work, Marxist theory, Russian, French, translation, artificial intelligence, robot engineering, cryptography science and technology, biomedical engineering, engineering management, archival science, e-commerce, tourism management, and fine arts.

Another nine bachelor programs, including Dutch, marine science, biotechnology, intelligent manufacturing engineering, data science and big data technology, architecture, biomedical science, visual communication design, and environmental design, were selected for provincial first-class bachelor programs construction.

To date, SDU has a total of 74 bachelor programs selected for national first-class bachelor programs construction and 16 selected for provincial first-class bachelor programs construction, accounting for 92.8 percent of the total number of its bachelor programs.

SDU has been stepping up efforts to cultivate the best undergraduate students and it launched the 2018-20 and 2021-23 action plans for boosting the construction of its first-class bachelor programs.

In the future, SDU will continue to focus on key aspects such as the curriculum system, course quality, teaching materials, and practical and experimental teaching systems, to form a high-quality bachelor program system with SDU characteristics.
