An unveiling ceremony for an international joint laboratory for materials joining between Shandong University (SDU) and Osaka University was held in SDU and online with Osaka University on Oct 12.
Han Shenghao, vice-president of SDU, and Manabu Tanaka, director of Osaka University's Joining and Welding Research Institute (JWRI), signed a cooperation agreement for the joint laboratory on behalf of the two schools at the ceremony.
Han hoped that the establishment of the joint laboratory will deepen the two schools' cooperation in aspects that include scientific research and student cultivation.
Han also laid expectations for the laboratory to carry out international key sci-tech research in fields like materials joining to offer more help to global discipline development.
Tanaka reviewed the cooperation results of both schools in materials at the ceremony and expected to continue its close cooperation with SDU to establish the laboratory into an influential international platform.
The JWRI is one of three internationally renowned research institutions for material joining and welding.
SDU has been working with the institute in materials joining since 1995 and both sides have achieved fruitful results in research and development, joint cultivation, faculty training, and international conference organization.
