Shandong University held the Seventh Qilu Youth Forum in Jinan, Weihai and Qingdao from Nov 11 to 13.
The annual forum, which has been held for six consecutive years from 2016 to 2021, is an important event for Shandong University to attract young scholars. It has attracted over 2,000 outstanding young scholars from more than 30 countries and regions to attend.
This year, nearly 500 young scholars from 21 countries and regions attended the event. In addition to the main forum, 48 sub-forums were held, covering humanities, social sciences, basic sciences, engineering sciences, information sciences, medicine and other fields. The forum was held both online and offline.
Gong Wendong, deputy director of the Organization Department of Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, attended the main forum and delivered a speech.
Gong said Shandong province attaches great importance to talents. In recent years, Shandong has strengthened its efforts to attract young talents in an all-round way, and has achieved practical results. He hopes Shandong University, as the "leader" of universities in Shandong province, will take the lead in talent training, talent introductions and talent services to produce more innovative results, provide more practical ideas, and transform its scientific and educational talent resources into new driving forces and new strengths for Shandong's development.
Li Shucai, president of Shandong University, said the university plans to provide a high-level scientific research platform, advanced experimental conditions, strong team support and improve its talent system to provide richer opportunities for young talents, ensure talent services, create a better educational environment for young talents, become a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, and contribute to building world-class hubs for talents and innovation.
The event featured presentations of Jinan, Weihai and Qingdao, as well as Shangdong University's talent policies, showing the university's top-notch environment for talent development and the cities' appeal for talents.
