The Key Lab of Machine Intelligence and System Control, led by the School of Control Science and Engineering at Shandong University (SDU), has been approved by the Ministry of Education as one of the first batch of key laboratories during China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).
Based on the frontier of machine intelligence and system control, the lab focuses on multiple application fields such as industrial manufacturing, energy, power, and medical and healthcare, conducting pilot researches in intelligent control and optimization, intelligent perception and decision-making, and intelligent systems and applications.
The lab intends to expand research fields empowered by artificial intelligence by strengthening the interdisciplinary integration of information, computer and software, lead the coordinated development of related disciplines, build a talent training system and provide a solid foundation for serving major national strategies and high-quality economic and social development.
In recent years, SDU has implemented an innovation-driven development strategy, attached great importance to academic development and talent cultivation and built key platforms for scientific research. Over the past three years, SDU has added 29 scientific research platforms above the provincial and ministerial level, including three national scientific research platforms, seven ministerial scientific research platforms and 19 provincial scientific research platforms.
SDU's Key Laboratory of Science and Technology Archaeology was also approved by the Ministry of Education. In the future, SDU will take the reorganization of key national laboratories as an opportunity to promote its "double first-class" construction model and utilize a high level of self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology.
