Students and teachers from the Tsinghua-Shandong University (SDU) Qingdao Immersion Class visited the production lines of enterprises including Hisense, FAW-Volkswagen's Qingdao branch, and Aucma from April 6 to 8, learning about the city's intelligent manufacturing and economic development.
Recently launched by the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) Education Center of Tsinghua University and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of SDU, the immersion class consists of international students from about 15 countries around the world, focusingon cultivating inter-disciplinary talents with practical skills and a broader vision.
At Hisense and Hitachi, staff members introduced their automatic production lines for TVs, central air-conditioning systems, and various new electrical products.
Chen Zhanpeng, manager of the batch planning and industrial engineering department of FAW-Volkswagen's Qingdao branch, illustrated how to create an efficient, intelligent, and stable automobile manufacturing system by applying industrial engineering technology from the aspects of efficiency and clean production.
The students also gained an insight into the future prospects of the refrigeration equipment manufacturing at Aucma by learning about the company's different pioneer products, as well astesting methods on new products.
At Qingdao TGOOD Electric, students and teachers experienced the operation process of new energy enterprises andgaineda better understanding of China's new energy ecosystem and modern management concept empowered by cutting-edge technologies. They visited the new energy internet experience area, the intelligent charging system demonstration zone, as well astheshowrooms for the company's products, cloud platform, monitoring center, and production lines.
Students and teachers also went to the Qingdao International Cruise Home Port and the automated wharf of Qingdao Port, watched beerbrewing processat the Tsingtao Beer Museum and experienced local cultureon the tour.
