The 2023 Shandong Provincial College Student Medical Skills Competition was held in Qingdao from May 6 to 7, with Shandong University (SDU) sweeping the medals on offer.

The competition featured the participation of 101 teams representing 18 local colleges within Shandong Province, as well as one team from another province. The event saw SDU winning six grand prizes, three first-place awards, one second-place recognition, seven team golds, and 30 individual distinctions.

Featuring six professional disciplines, the competition was aimed at assessing the medical proficiency of students and fostering advancements in Shandong's medical practice education Judges evaluated participants in a variety of areas, including clinical medicine, preventive medicine, nursing, stomatology, traditional Chinese medicine, and pharmacy.

Contestants were appraised based on their theoretical knowledge and practical skills, with a particular focus on critical thinking, humanistic care, and collaboration.

SDU attributes its resounding success in the competition to its unwavering commitment to pedagogical excellence, which further cementing its leader position at the forefront of medical education.
