On June 19, the graduation ceremony for postgraduate students at Shandong University (SDU) in 2023 was held at the sports arena on the central campus.

Professor Yu Xiao from the School of Basic Medical Sciences representing the faculty, Professor Cao Bin, an outstanding alumni representative, and Ji Zhenbing, a graduate representative from the School of Mechanical Engineering, delivered speeches at the ceremony.

Zhang Yongbing, deputy secretary of the Party committee, presented appointment letters to the class representatives of the 2023 alumni. The class representatives are expected to serve as essential bridges and links between the alumni and their alma mater, promoting mutual development.

President Li Shucai congratulated all graduates on behalf of the university and expressed sincere gratitude to the teachers and families who have accompanied them throughout their journey. He outlined four expectations for the graduates: fostering a sense of national responsibility, upholding the spirit of dedication and rising up to challenges, maintaining practicality and integrity, and pursuing excellence while enhancing innovative abilities.

Following the addresses was the degree awarding ceremony, where university leaders, members of the academic degree evaluation committee, and representatives of experts and scholars presented degree certificates to the graduates.

Before the commencement, a video showcasing memorable moments of postgraduate life at SDU was played. After the ceremony, students from the Fine Arts School sang songs such as Eight Horses Sharing the Same Manger and On the Field of Hope, providing a visual and auditory feast for their peers.

Three additional video venues were set up at the Zhixin Building, Science Hall, and Little Grove, where parents of graduates could watch the ceremony remotely.

SDU planned various colorful activities for the graduation season, including a graduation ball, an online concert, and an evening gala. There were also many heartwarming and considerate preparations , such as inviting parents to attend the ceremony, designing graduation gifts for the graduates, and placing an alumni map on campus to facilitate graduates in joining alumni associations worldwide.

Furthermore, the university invited previous graduates who could not attend their ceremonies, allowing them to participate and make up for the regret.
