Dmitry Savkin, vice-president for international affairs at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute of Russia's National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI), led a delegation to visit Shandong University (SDU) on June 16.
Han Shenghao, vice-president of SDU, met with Savkin and his delegation. During the meeting, Han gave a brief introduction of SDU and its recent achievements and expressed hope that the two universities could enhance mutual understanding, strengthen academic exchanges and interactions in leading programs and fields and explore more cooperation opportunities. Savkin points out that the two universities share many similarities in key programs and research directions which provides a promising prospect for bilateral cooperation. He then introduced the recent research achievements of the institute in plasma technology, biomedical engineering, communication technology and other fields.
The two sides later signed a framework agreement and reached a consensus on initiating cooperation as soon as possible. Savkin also met with representatives and scholars from the School of Energy and Power Engineering, the Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering, the School of Physics and the Department of International Affairs of SDU, and discussed with them issues like research cooperation, joint education and exchanges between academics. The Moscow Engineering Physics Institute is one of the first research-oriented universities in Russia. It is known for its academic achievements in areas such as nanomaterials, nanotechnology, radiation and particle beam technology, ecology and biophysics, theoretical and applied physics, automation and electronic electrical engineering.
