A delegation from the Karolinska Institute (KI) in Sweden, led by their Vice President Robert Harris, recently visited Shandong University (SDU).
During the meeting, SDU's Vice President Yi Fan recounted the reciprocal benefits that both institutions had enjoyed through collaborations in scientific research, talent cultivation, and academic exchanges.
Harris said SDU is KI's closest partner in China and noted that their future collaboration would be centered around translational medicine research.
A cooperative symposium was held for the representatives from SDU's engineering and medical departments to deliberate on their respective research areas. They also evaluated the potential for cross-disciplinary collaboration and synergies for future medical-engineering intersections.
Harris then expressed hope that the two sides could deepen their partnership in the medical and engineering fields, especially in disease research.
During another symposium, Tang Yuchun, deputy director of scientific research and international exchanges at Cheeloo College of Medicine, charted the progress made since the inception of the four joint laboratories established by the two institutions in 2020. The delegation proceeded to Qilu Hospital of SDU where they held further discussions.
