A cooking skill competition for Shandong University canteen staff members was held on its Qingdao Campus on Aug 3. The competition, the first of its kind hosted by the university, was attended by eight teams from campuses in the three cities of Qingdao, Jinan, and Weihai.
Each participating team was required to prepare 14 dishes within 180 minutes. Specifically, there had to be two cold dishes, eight hot dishes (including three specified dishes and five dishes of their choices), and four varieties of snacks and pastries.
Seven judges, including experts, faculty members, and students from both within and outside the university, conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the competition dishes based on their taste, visual appeal, nutritional value, and creative concepts.
The Qianfoshan Campus team won the group gold award, teams from the Xinglongshan Campus and Baotuquan Campus secured the group silver awards, and teams from the Software Park Campus, Qingdao Campus, Hongjialou Campus, Central Campus, and Weihai Campus won the group bronze awards.
