Professor Peng Shige from the School of Mathematics of Shandong University was recently named an academician of Academia Europaea, according to the academy's website.
Founded in 1988 and headquartered in London, the United Kingdom, Academia Europaea is an international scientific organization of the highest academic level in European countries. It is a global scientific organization with the most extensive cross-regional and academic fields, the highest academic status and the greatest influence. The organization currently has about 6,000 academicians, including about 90 Nobel Prize winners.
Born in Shandong province in December 1947, Peng is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Shandong University and the director of the Research Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences of Shandong University. He is renowned for his original research and achievements in the fields of probability theory, stochastic control and financial mathematics. He has also been an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences since 2005.
Peng’s induction into Academia Europaea is set to inject new vitality into the development of the international field of mathematics, and will promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation between Shandong University and the international academic community.
