The Public Mathematics Development Center of Shandong University was unveiled during a seminar on higher mathematics pedagogy held in Weihai of Shandong from Aug 10 to 11.

Hosted by the School of Mathematics of Shandong University and the Public Mathematics Development Center of Shandong University, the seminar featured experts discussing the construction of higher mathematics, talent cultivation, and unified standards of public mathematics courses.

The establishment of the Public Mathematics Development Center is an important measure taken by Shandong University to promote the reform of the public mathematics curriculum and improve the quality of independent talent training.

The center will give full play to the traditional advantages of Shandong University in mathematics and play a leading role in moral cultivation, curriculum construction, textbook construction, personnel training, and education and teaching reform.

Shandong University has in recent years made excellent achievements related to the curriculum system, textbook construction, education and teaching reform research, teaching achievements and personnel training, said Wu Zhen, vice-president of Shandong University, during the seminar.

Shandong University will next deepen strategic cooperation with sister universities, promote the development of public mathematics, and create a joint platform for talent education, according to Wu.
