Shandong University became one of the top prizewinners at the recent national finals of the 18th National Undergraduate Smart Car Competition, held at Tianjin University of Technology in Tianjin.
The 25 participating teams from Shandong University secured 14 first prizes, eight second prizes, one third prize and one encouragement award.
The number of first prizes and the total number of prizes won by the university ranked first among all participating universities.
Sponsored by the Chinese Society of Automation, the annual smart car competition is one of those at the highest level of its kind in the country.
The event encompasses knowledge of artificial intelligence, control, pattern recognition, sensor technology, electronics, electricals, computers, machinery, communications, automotive engineering and other disciplines.
It aims to cultivate the abilities of college students in knowledge applications, engineering practices and innovation.
This year's event attracted 3,138 teams from more than 500 universities nationwide, among which a total of 504 teams entered the national finals.
