The final of the fifth China Graduate Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition was held at Shanxi University on Sept 24. Shandong University clinched two top honors, a second-place prize, and a third-place accolade.
Professors Wang Chaoqun and Zhou Fengyu, alongside Associate Professors Wang Chengyou and Zhou Xiao from Shandong University, received the Outstanding Advisor Award. Additionally, the university was lauded as an Exceptional Organizing Institution. These awards mark the university's best performance in the history of this competition.
The fifth China Graduate Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition focused on hot topics like the new generation of artificial intelligence and attracted over 1,700 teams from 269 universities worldwide, with nearly 8,000 graduate student participantsg.

After the final review, 40 teams won first-place prizes, 120 teams won second-place prizes, and 256 teams won third-place prizes.
A perception- grabbing system for improving intelligent service robots and a smart system for urban management developed by Shandong University teams, both won the first-place prizes.
The event is a part of the China Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Competitions, which are guided by the Degree Management and Graduate Education Department of the Ministry of Education.
Shandong University has always been encouraging graduate students to participate in the innovation competitions. Through such events, the university aims to amplify student prowess in research, pedagogy, transformation, novelty, and lifelong learning, advance the high-quality development of graduate student education and nurture the most innovative minds for the contemporary era.
