Shandong University (SDU) won the most prizes at the recent 16th National College Students' Software Innovation Contest held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province.
The university, which fielded 13 teams, won two first prizes, five second prizes and six third prizes. It was also the university with the most first prizes.
Four undergraduate students Jiang Guohao, Shao Jihong, Qi Xiaoyi and Tang Yuechen from the 2021 class of the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Information Engineering at SDU won the national first prize. The team's creation Spark features a self-developed infrared projection touch system that helps children with autism learn through artificial intelligence.
Shen Xinyu, Yan Tianyu, Wang Shuo and Liu Haoran from the 2020 class of the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Information Engineering at SDU won the first prize of the software innovation contest. The team's work Solitude is an intelligent robot dog that provides assistance to people living alone. Powered by technologies such as ChatGPT and CenterNet, the robot reacts to voice commands and can chat with users.
SDU has in recent years attached great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education for college students, and has actively promoted cross-disciplinary development and industry-education integration. By encouraging teachers and students to participate in scientific research competitions, SDU inspire students to practice their abilities in the process of solving problems and contribute to the society.
