A delegation led by Liu Jianya, vice-president of Shandong University, visited universities in New Zealand and Australia to expand cooperation from Nov 27 to Dec 3.
During the visit, the delegation signed a student visit cooperation agreement with the University of Auckland. The two sides will cooperate in student exchanges and joint scientific research in the fields of data science, chemistry, microbiology, archaeology, English language and literature.

The delegation also signed a student visit cooperation agreement with University of Queensland. The two sides reviewed the achievements of the cooperation between the two universities in the fields of economy and engineering since the signing of a memorandum of understanding in 2004, and expressed hope of exploring and expanding cooperation in more fields.

At the University of Adelaide, the Shandong University delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with John Williams, an academic dean of the University of Adelaide, and Jessica Gallagher, vice-president of the University of Adelaide. The two sides reached a consensus on building joint training programs in the fields of public health and chemistry.

During the visit, the Shandong University delegation also signed a memorandum of understanding on science cooperation with the University of Melbourne to deepen cooperation in the fields of physics and chemistry.

The delegation also visited Monash University. The two sides reviewed their cooperation in the fields of civil engineering, microbiology and chemistry and reached a consensus on the joint training of students, teachers and administrators in the fields of microbiology and mathematics.
The delegation also visited alumni representatives of Shandong University in Melbourne and Auckland. Liu introduced the development of Shandong University in recent years to the alumni and listened to the alumni's suggestions on the development of the university and the cooperation between Australia and New Zealand.
