A Shandong University delegation led by Yi Fan, the university's vice-president, visited its global partners in Sweden and the United Kingdom from Dec 3 to 9, deepening cooperation in the field of medicine.
Shandong University and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden reached consensuses on overseas exchange among students of the Qilu Medical Institution, joint post-doctoral training, clinical cooperation in emergency medicine and cardiovascular medicine, and cross-disciplinary cooperation in medical fields.
The delegation visited the alumni representatives of Shandong University at the Karolinska Institute. Yi introduced how Shandong University has improved in recent years and listened to their academic reports and suggestions on how to further strengthen the university.

At the University of Southampton, the Shandong University delegation visited its cancer immunization center, clinical and experimental centers and an anatomical science center. The two sides have formed preliminary work plans on the medical summer program of the University of Southampton, overseas exchange of Qilu Medical Institution students, cross-border education in biomedicine and public health (TNE), and medical research.

At the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, Yi and the delegation discussed with Malcolm Butler, vice-president of International Affairs of the university, Mark Strong, dean of the School of Medicine and Population Health, and Deborah Lodge, director of the Department of Research, Partnerships and Innovation.
The two sides signed a cooperation agreement during the meeting, affirmed the cooperation achievements between the two universities in medicine, law, science and technology, and the humanities since the signing of the memorandum of understanding in 2017, and expressed hope of expanding cooperation in more areas.
