Shandong University won the title of "Gold Medal Partner Institution" in the digital education of the Global Chinese Language Alliance during the recent 2023 World Chinese Language Conference.

The award was presented during the Global Chinese Plus Conference, which was part of the World Chinese Language Conference held in Beijing from Dec 7 to 9.

Liu Jianya, vice-president of Shandong University, attended the conference. At a meeting on building Confucius Institutes, Liu made a speech and highlighted the achievements Confucius Institutes have made in recent years. Liu said Shandong University will make more efforts to support the development of Confucius institutes and help more people learn about Chinese culture.

Fan Liming, former president of Shandong University, also attended the conference as a consultant of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation. Fan provided suggestions on the development of international Chinese education and the improvement of the Confucius Institute system. She was also officially employed as a consultant of the Language Cooperation Center.

During the conference, the Shandong University delegation participated in a series of activities and had in-depth exchanges with representatives of Confucius Institutes in countries such as Serbia, France, Thailand, Mongolia, and South Korea.

The 2023 World Chinese Language Conference, hosted by the Ministry of Education, featured a plenary session, a main forum and over 10 international forums and expositions. Nearly 2,000 representatives from over 160 countries participated.
