An archaeological workstation was recently inaugurated in Zibo, a culturally-rich city in Shandong province, with the support of Shandong University and the Zibo Institute of Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeological Research.
The workstation is also one of the key research bases supported by the National Cultural Heritage Administration. The facility will specialize in conducting environmental archaeology, biological archaeology, and other research endeavors related to ancient sites and tombs.
Zibo, the birthplace of Qi culture, is rich in archaeological resources and has 2,239 immovable cultural relics. Shandong University and the Zibo Institute of Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeological Research will collaborate to build the workstation into a large-scale, state-of-the-art archaeological research hub.
