Sun Rong, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and professor of the Advanced Medical Research Institute, shared her views on promoting the preservation and development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) during this year's two sessions.
The two sessions are the annual gatherings in Beijing of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, and the CPPCC National Committee, the country's top political advisory body. The second session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee session began on March 4 and the second session of the 14th NPC opened on March 5.
Sun proposed placing greater emphasis on leveraging sci-tech innovation to promote the preservation and development of TCM, aiming to cultivate new quality productive forces in the TCM field.
Sun suggested that TCM products should possess market potential and price advantages, enabling the development of their market value and fostering sustainable growth.
More research efforts should be made to overcome "bottleneck" problems in the development of TCM in modern clinical applications through interdisciplinary innovation.
