This year's Government Work Report places the construction of a modern industrial system and accelerating the development of new quality productive forces at the top of the government's annual tasks.

Sci-tech innovation will play a crucial role in developing new quality productive forces, said Zhao Guoqun, a deputy to the National People's Congress and a professor of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Shandong University.

Shandong, which has strong industrial foundation, has unique advantages in developing new quality productive forces, Zhao said.

The province has seen significant development in emerging industries such as marine chemicals, advanced manufacturing, agricultural machinery, network technology, and artificial intelligence.

"I have been engaged in materials science and engineering research for many years, and we have been combining advanced technology with our research to achieve rapid, efficient and stable production," Zhao said.

He said that in the future they will carry out innovative research and promote the transformation of technologies as well as the application of new technologies.
