Swimmers from Shandong University in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, have clinched two gold medals and one bronze medal at the 24th National Open Water Swimming Championships, which were held at Nanli Lake in Ding'an, South China's Hainan province.
The competition attracted 269 athletes from 36 teams across the country. Despite this being their debut in open water swimming competitions, the three swimmers from Shandong University delivered outstanding performances.
Wang Chendi, an undergraduate from Shandong University, claimed the gold medal in the men's 1500-meter freestyle race. Lin Zijun secured the bronze in the same event. Furthermore, Cao Zihan triumphed in the women's 1500-meter freestyle race, clinching the championship title.
The National Open Water Swimming Championships stands as the pinnacle event for open water swimming competitions in the country. It was organized by the National Swimming Administrative Center and the Chinese Swimming Association.
