The 2024 Shandong University Track Competition was held from April 26 to 27, with nearly 1,408 athletes participating in 72 event categories.

The meeting kicked off with a captivating dragon and lion dance performance, put together by more than 80 students from the School of Physical Education and Fine Arts School of Shandong University.

Li Shucai, president of Shandong University, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the meeting, during which he recalled the longstanding sporting tradition at Shandong University and highlighted the remarkable achievements in physical education in recent years.

He encouraged youngsters to cultivate a lifelong habit of exercise as well as to foster perseverance and resilience in the face of difficulties.

A total of 312 athletes received gold medals. The team composed of He Shuai, Li Zihao, Wang Zerong, and Ma Xiaohu from the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Shandong University broke the previous school record of 3 minutes and 45.55 seconds in the men's 4x400 meters relay with a time of 3 minutes and 44.80 seconds.
