The environment and ecology discipline at Shandong University (SDU) ranked among the top 0.1 percent in the world ESI ranking, according to the latest Essential Science Indicators or ESI released by Clarivate Analytics.
Shandong University currently has six disciplines among the top 0.1 percent in the world – engineering, chemistry, pharmacology and toxicology, materials science, clinical medicine, and environment and ecology, and a total of 20 disciplines in the top one percent.
The ESI is a fundamental analytical evaluation tool used to measure the performance of scientific research and track trends in scientific development. It is a quantitative analysis database based on more than 10 million papers from over 12,000 academic journals worldwide included in the Science Citation Index Expanded and the Social Sciences Citation Index.
The ESI is an essential evaluation indicator widely used globally to assess the academic levels in a country or a region, as well as the influence of universities and academic institutions.
