Zhang Chenghui, a professor of the School of Control Science and Engineering at Shandong University won the highest science and technology award of Shandong, announced by local government on May 13.

In 2023, Shandong awarded a total of 282 projects and individuals with provincial science and technology awards. Among them, two individuals received the highest science and technology award, 10 received the Youth Science and Technology Award, and 49 projects received the Natural Science Award. Shandong University, as the primary institution, has won a total of 50 awards.

Professor Zhang is a distinguished researcher in the field of new energy system control in China. The grid-connected equipment, he developed, has been industrialized through collaboration with enterprises and has widely been applied in major projects such as the west-to-east power transmission project, photovoltaic poverty alleviation, and projects under the Belt and Road Initiative.
