The 2024 China U&C Student Cycling Challenge took place at Guizhou Industry Polytechnic College in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province, from May 11 to 13.
The cycling team from Shandong University (SDU), participating in the event for the first time, achieved remarkable success by securing the second place in both the men's 3km individual time trial and the men's team sprint.
Hosted by the Chinese Student Sports Federation, the event drew over 300 coaches and athletes from 56 universities nationwide. It featured three main events: mountain biking, road racing, and track cycling.
The Shandong University cycling team competed across 15 categories in the three major events. The team consisted of 11 students from 10 colleges across the university's Jinan and Qingdao campuses.
A standout performance came from Xiang Hang, who earned the silver medal in the 3km individual time trial. Moreover, in the men's team sprint, Xiang, along with Nie Yutong and Zhang Dongyang, demonstrated an exceptional teamwork, progressing from the fifth place in the qualifiers to clinching silver in the finals.
