A delegation led by Doctor Huang Cen, vice-provost of the University of Alberta, visited Shandong University on May 17 to seek further cooperation.
The two sides renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the agreement for their student exchange program. According to the agreement, both parties will engage in extensive cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation and joint scientific research.
Liu Jianya, vice-president of Shandong University, shared the history of Shandong University. He said that the two institutions have already engaged in a series of fruitful collaborations in areas such as student exchange, academic cooperation, and faculty and staff training.
He hopes that more efforts will be made to promote comprehensive and in-depth cooperation and exchange between the two universities.
Huang Cen talked about the cooperation between the two sides and emphasized that Shandong University is one of the University of Alberta's most important partners in China and both sides have a solid foundation for cooperation. Huang expressed hope that the two universities will continue to strengthen their joint research and faculty and student exchanges in fields such as medicine and engineering.
Founded in 1908, the University of Alberta is a renowned public research university in Canada, enjoying an excellent reputation in fields such as nursing, petrochemicals, environmental science, and chemistry.
Shandong University and the University of Alberta established cooperative ties in 2006 and have collaborated in fields of mechanical engineering, medicine, chemistry, energy, life sciences, and finance.
